    ABOUT ME

    Filmmaker . Director . Producer.

My work is centred in the medium of film. Here, I find the freedom to explore the human condition and let the audience get acquainted with new stories from different people and different communities. These stories are presented through both fictional dramas and documentaries. The goal of my work is to continue the long tradition of storytelling that we as humans naturally gravitate towards. I want to foster the connection between people by getting them to better understand other perspectives, and to appreciate the fact that while we all have different lives we are all very similar.

This is echoed through all my work. In dramas, where the desperation and greed of a studio head will cause him to green light a movie which doesn’t have any real substance, to how a new leading actor’s passion for her craft can be diminished through a monotonous interview. In documentaries, where one’s passion for a sport has become a cornerstone of their adult life or the memory of a loved one brings someone to tears. This exploration of the human condition is especially seen in my latest project, my dissertation documentary for university. A documentary which is about Polish people living in Leeds and my investigation of how they find or make their own communities.

I make movies because I love the process of creating them, the collaboration, the challenges, and the freedom. Every project I start is different, and in the pre-production stage there are no limitations,  just an idea and imagination - whether that idea be a script or theme for a documentary. The freedom to create anything is then confronted with the reality of the confines of production, whether that be a low-budget or a stringent time scale. This is where my skills in co-ordination and attention to detail are used in order to marry the artistic vision I have for the project with the ability to be practical about actually creating this vision.
